Frank's testing on these revealed.....
Quick, fun, and incredibly carvy, the K2 Disruption SC skis with bindings are a front-side skier's dream come true. At 73 mm underfoot,(works great at MSM) these skis have a similar footprint to the upper-end MTi skis in the Disruption line, but they feature a carbon I-Beam rather than a Titanal one. This makes the ski lighter and more accessible for even intermediates but most at home with advanced skiers who don't need or want the heavier, burlier metal laminate that makes the MTi so powerful and precise. With Carbon, you're getting a lot of strength and snappiness out of the SC, and the carbon laminate is why. Paired with an Aspen wood core, this ski starts out energetic and gets the boost from the carbon. In addition, K2 uses their Dark Matter Damping technology to keep the tips and tails of the skis from chattering at high speeds. Since these skis were built and designed to handle harder artificial snow and tougher turns, it makes sense that they'd put something like this space-age polymer in the front and back of the ski. It's energy-absorbent, but is light weight, so it doesn't bulk the ski up in any way, rather it makes the ski behave a lot like the high-end carving ski that it is, but at a fraction of the weight of a metal ski. If you're looking to light it up on the groomers and lay down some mean carves, the K2 Disruption SC skis with bindings are the ticket.
